Lonely Planet / 1000 Ultimate Experiences

1000 Ultimate Experiences is a bucket-list/inspiration app for all Lonely Planet travellers – no matter what their fancy, cataloguing the best places to go, sights to see and things to do in the world. 

Lonely Planet had approached us in the beginning of 2010 for a project to bring the 1000 Ultimate Experiences coffee table/bucket list book to life on the iPad. Difficulty level: the iPad hadn't been released yet.

Interaction is rarely as straightforward as it appears on the surface. For 1000 Ultimate Experiences, the requirements (encourage chance discovery, non-linear information and playfulness) led us to a card deck interface, offering to users all of the above along with stunning, beautiful imagery to catch the eye.
